The Psychologists Registration Board of Western Australia was established by the Psychologists Act 2005.
The Board is the statutory regulatory body of Western Australia responsible to the Minister for Health for the administration of the Act.
In accordance with Section 5 of the Psychologists Act 2005, the Board consists of 8 Members of whom:-
Functions of the Board
The Board is responsible for the registration of Psychologists and the regulation of the practice of psychology, the protection of the public from certain harmful practices and for matters incidental thereto.
Hypnosis was de-regulated following the proclamation of the Psychologists Act 2005 on 4 May 2007. Accordingly it is no longer a requirement to apply to the Board for a Licence to practice Hypnosis.
Board Meetings
The Board meets regularly on the first Tuesday in every month (except January when there is no meeting and November when the meeting is held on the first Monday).
The Registrations Sub-Committee meets monthly to review applications for registration, supervision arrangements etc and makes recommendations to the Board. Items for inclusion on agendas at Board Meetings should be forwarded to the Board's offices no later than 10 days prior to the meeting date.
